Beautiful Bali

It,s 4.30 am (I know I'm an early riser) on a beautiful Bali morning. The sound of motor bikes and the incessant beeping of horns has yet to start. Just the occasional crow of a rooster is the only sound to be heard. It's warm and still even the sun hasn't started to rise yet. Best time of the day for me, love having the early morning to myself.

First impressions........it's lush and green, the people are wonderfully friendly and helpful, the food is amazing and the heat and humidity are nowhere nearly as oppressive as I thought they would be. There is a certain amount of boob sweat going on but there's relief to be had in air conditioned shops and the pool at our accommodation is getting a serious work out.

Yesterday was a trip to Kuta for an amazing head neck and shoulder massage......bliss as you can see from the look on my face. Then it was back to Seminyak for a girlie day with daughter and future daughter I law. Manicures and pedicures all round, it's been years since I've had either.

This was my first purchase, a rather large and colorful hat.

I would love some of these to put in my garden.

Today is bead shopping......the guys will just have to grin and bare it. I spotted several interesting bead stores on the way to Kuta yesterday so that's where I'm headed today.

Till next time.......signing off from Bali.

Blogging from Bali

Our family will be spending a week in Bali so I’m going to attempt to blog from there on my iPad.

So if things look a bit wonky, or off kilter, or slightly dodgy it could be a number of things.
I’ve either had one too many cocktails whilst lounging beside our private pool.

pool3

Or reclining on my bed having a quiet little nanny nap.
(or suffering a Bad Bout of Bali Belly)

bedroom5

Or Soaking in bath full of rose petals.

bathroom1

Or I have heat stroke and the humidity has tipped me over the edge.

Truthfully?…… it will probably be because I’m still on a learning curve with the bloggsy app.

Disappointing Show

Well it came and went in the blink of an eye. After weeks of preparation, (not to mention money spent) getting ready for my first indoor show it was very disappointing to say the least.

Carmen and I were up at the crack of dawn, the car was already loaded and off we went. Finally found the spot we needed to unload everything from the car onto large trolleys that were uploaded by a huge goods lift. Carmen was supposed to be my minion for the day, but she just bossed me around as usual and ate all the babies (I’ll get to that shortly).

Despite the rather trippy psychedelic carpet it was a great venue. Plenty of room between stalls and easy to get around especially if you were pushing a pram………I’m getting to that.

So I didn’t realise that the market I was part of was combining with a baby market. Most of the stalls were catering for mothers and babies, hence the prams, so they were not that interested in buying handmade jewellery. More interested in paying $50.00 for a pair of imported pyjamas for a 2 month old bub. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

But we did see some gorgeous babies and Carmen had to stop all the prams and play with them. (minions aren’t supposed to do that I’m told).

And I did sell a few gift tags and met some lovely people.

This lovely lady Vanaja came up to my stall and introduced herself and told me she reads my blog which was a lovely surprise. Here we are in front of her jewellery stall. Vanaja has only recently started making jewellery and blogging, her blog is called Reyi Designs.

As I said it was disappointing but a learning experience none the less.

On to the next project…….haven’t quite worked out what that will be just yet!

Quick and Easy

These are all over the Internet and Pinterest. This is my take on them.
I bought three little glass candle holders.
One large........
One small vintage looking melamine plates.

I glued two of the candle holders together.

Using this glue.

And this is what I will use them for on Sunday to grace my table and pretty it up a little.

All done.

If you have any questions leave me comment.

A Wonderful Night

We couldn't have wished for a better night. It was very hot during the day and a bit windy and we were worried the decorations we had put up through the day would get blown to shreds. But by the evening the wind had died right down. It was perfect.

Some of the many tissue pom poms I made.

Pretty vases of flowers from the garden on all the tables.

The pool in the late afternoon ........

.........and at night with floating candles.
I was really pleased with how this turned out.
The happy couple.

So now it's over, the last minute preparations for my stall next Sunday begin.

A basket of gift tags with more to be made.

Earring cards, I must make more earrings too.

A busy week ahead.
